Frequently Asked Questions
We have put together a list of Frequently Asked Questions below, which we hope will aid your experience with us. We are, of course, also available to answer any questions by Email, Phone or WhatsApp - so please don't hesitate to get in touch!
-
What is included? The Camel Safari includes English/Hindi speaking guides, transfers from and back to Jaisalmer, freshly prepared vegetarian meals, snacks and non-alcoholic beverages as well as camel riding as per the booked package. For overnight options, simple beds and bedding will also be included. The overnight stays are open air (so you can witness the incredible night skies!), and not in tents. For overnight stays you will be ‘wild camping’ with no formal toilet facilities (but plenty of discreet places to go!) and water will be provided for hand washing.
-
What is not included? We aim to be transparent to avoid hidden charges and to make it clear what is and is not included. Additional costs will be applicable to meals not stated as included, and any alcoholic drinks that you order. If you wish to explore additional things not mentioned in the package then these will usually incur additional costs but we will inform you prior. Extra charges will also be applicable for any requested upgrades to the packages.
-
How many guests will ride each camel? For our non-touristic Camel Safaris, we have a policy of one camel per guest. If traveling with children below the age of 4 you will share the camel, and with children over the age of 4 you may choose to share your camel.
-
Do you go to non-touristic dunes?Yes - our Camel Safari programmes are completely off the beaten track and go to unspoilt and non-touristic dunes. You will be in the desert wilderness! The Desert Camp tours (staying in Swiss chalet style tents) however will be in the Sam Sand Dunes which are a popular tourist attraction.
-
What food do you serve? All our food is prepared fresh and is vegetarian. Please advise of any specific dietary requirements. The number of meals served will depend on the package chosen and the length of your stay. Snacks and non-alcoholic beverages are also included.
-
Are alcoholic drinks available?Alcoholic drinks are available for purchase on our Camel Safari. Alcoholic drinks are not included in the safari cost and will be extra.
-
Can I book a private safari?Usually we will form a group of guests who wish to do a safari on a particular day. This is good fun and a nice way to meet new people! However if you wish to have a private trip we can arrange for riding and camping away from other guests if you are a minimum of 2 people. The jeep will remain shared unless you wish to pay additional for a private jeep. Please inform us at the time of booking if you wish to request a private safari.
-
Where will I sleep? For overnight options you will be wild camping, sleeping in the dunes on simple beds with cozy bedding. The overnight stays are open air (so you can witness the incredible night skies!), and generally not in tents unless specifically requested.
-
Do you have campfires? In winter we usually have campfires to sit around but in summer we tend not to, due to attracting more insects.
-
What should I wear?We suggest you wear a long sleeved top and long, comfortable trousers. We also recommend sunglasses, hat and sun-screen. You may wish to bring a scarf. During winter especially, we recommend bringing a warmer jacket for the evenings and mornings.
-
What should I bring? We suggest you bring hand sanitizers and soap for hygiene. Natural soaps are preferred to protect the environment. You may also want to bring toilet paper/tissue and/or wipes. We request that you bag and bin them, for disposal after you have left the dunes, so as not to litter and keep the environment clean. There are no electric charging points, so you may wish to carry a battery pack. If you bring a camera to capture those amazing moments, or any other electronic devices, please be careful as sand can easily enter the device. Bring any medication you will require. We also recommend that you do not wear contact lenses due to the fine sand particles, but bring glasses instead. For longer tours, you may wish to bring additional items such as changes of clothes and a flannel - please do ask when booking if you have further questions.
-
Do you have a baggage storage facility?Yes - we can arrange for secure baggage storage, however we do not accept responsibility for any left items.
-
